Meris’s – A cosy woodland cottage
The Cottage:
Meris’s is a secluded getaway where you can snuggle up in front of the log burner’s licking flames, play games, read, eat and drink, or sit outside in the garden soaking up the atmosphere enjoying the surrounding woodland and its wildlife. Originally built in 1871 Meris’s has just been beautifully renovated and is now ready to welcome guests. Located down a private drive you will be surrounded by nature with a gurgling stream running right past the house.
Overview:
• Our cottage is tucked away on the Malvern Hills and surrounded by nature.
• Footpath goes right past the front door taking you to the top of the hills.
• 2 Bedrooms and 2 shower rooms.
• Sleeps 4 people (1 King-sized four-poster bed & 2 twin beds that can be zipped and linked to create a double if required).
• 1 x Pub (5 minute walk) with Colwall Village pubs, shops, restaurants 15/20 minute walk away.
• Great Malvern town centre 10 minute drive away with more restaurants, supermarkets, cinema and theatre.
• Historic Ledbury is a 10 minute car journey.
Living Room:
The atmospheric living room has a toasty long burner so you can hunker down on a winter’s day and listen to it crackling away, we supply enough paper, kindling and logs to keep you going during your stay. There are board games and cards and a smart TV so you can stream from whichever platform you prefer.
Kitchen:
The large bright kitchen has a gas cooker/oven, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and all the glassware, crockery, pots, pans and tableware you will need. There is a vacuum cleaner, brushes and mops too. The breakfast table seats 4 or alternatively you can use the dining room for more space. You can go outside through the kitchen French doors whether it’s to have that early morning coffee or to dine al fresco.
Dining Room:
If you want a proper sit-down meal or an epic board game this is the place, situated next to the kitchen entertaining is made easy. It is the ideal place to celebrate a special occasion or if you must work there is plenty of room to spread out on the large dining table.
Boot room/utility room:
There is a washing machine, iron, ironing board and clothes horse if you need to do any laundry during your stay. Coats and shoes can be kept here as well. There is also a wellington rack outside the back door for those dirty boots.
Bedrooms:
There are two spacious bedrooms with beautiful views. The beds have comfy sprung mattresses and dependent upon the weather beds will be made with either duvets or sheets and a blanket. If you feel you need a bit of extra warmth all blankets/duvets are kept in the cottage. There is also a hairdryer in the bedroom. The twin bedroom beds can be joined together to make a double bed if preferred.
Shower rooms:
There are two shower rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, so there are never any queues! Towels and toilet rolls are supplied. We aim to include other toiletries when times allow.
Garden and Patio:
The house is surrounded by a large garden, where you can dine alfresco on the patio and bask in the afternoon sun. There are table and chairs dotted around the garden so as guests can enjoy all the different views. As we are in the process of rewilding the garden we request that guests keep to the paths to avoid disturbing the new plantings (often not obvious).
Children and House Rules:
Care and supervision should be taken at all times with the very hot log burner, steep stairs and with the shallow stream that runs through the property boundary. Particular care should be taken with young children, for mobile infants up until the age of 6 we reserve the right to not accept bookings due to these risks.
We respectfully request that guests do all washing up and clearing away on a daily basis leaving our cottage ready for us to do an in-depth clean on guests’ departure. No outdoor shoes to be worn upstairs.
General:
– There is WIFI throughout the cottage.
– Central heating throughout the cottage.
– Check in is after 4pm and check out no later than 10am.
NB
Also expect:
Bird song, night time dark skies, owls hooting, muntjac and badgers wandering around accompanied by the sound of a babbling brook.
