Colwall Arts Festival – 7-8 August 2021

What's On

Colwall Arts Festival

Paintings, jewellery, felt work, knitted goods, mosaics, pots and ceramics, candles and pottery. These are just a few of the exhibitors at an exciting new arts festival this August, taking place at St. James’ Church in Colwall. This is the first event to mark the start of the church becoming a local Centre for the Arts, and being organised by Steve Hockett and Ian Cooper.

The festival takes place over the weekend of 7 and 8 August. Entry is free and there will be a pop-up café with tea, coffee, and homemade cake. This is not a fundraiser for the church, but a celebration of local arts and crafts.

This Festival is all about inviting the wider community into the church. Steve has been tasked with taking the lead in developing the church as a Centre for the Arts with his friend Ian Cooper as Festival Manager. Like a great many places there is a lot of hidden talent in Colwall.

So far, we have around 26 exhibitors inside and outside the church but there is potential for a few more, so if you’re reading this and would like to exhibit, then please get in touch. It’s a chance for artistic people to display their goods, be happy for them to sell and let people see how talented our community is.

Going forward, we are looking at the idea of holding things such as recitals, concerts, tea dances and performances in the church. In the longer term, we hope to install a kitchen area and restroom at the back of the church, as many other churches in our area have done in recent years, which will make staging events much more simple.
