Family Clay Modelling in Half Term – Make a Heart Shaped Box
Eastnor Pottery, near Ledbury, Herefordshire is delighted to announce details of its fun and creative pottery sessions for families in the rapidly approaching February half term holiday.
Valentines provides the inspiration and potters of all ages will make a little lidded pot using the hand modelling slab technique. Once the lid and pot have been constructed, participants will then get to theme their creations with modelled motifs and detail.
“Although Valentines Day will have passed, we thought it would be a good excuse for participants to make a little trinket box to present to a loved one…or maybe not!? We champion creative individuality so if people want to go ‘off piste’ with their decoration, then that’s all good with us!” commented Eastnor Pottery co-director Sarah Monk.
Participants will also be encouraged to paint their creations, there and then using a rich creamy slip – perfect for scratching through to reveal the raw terracotta clay underneath. Connoisseurs of the clay arts will know this technique as sgraffito, a very satisfying and fun method of pottery decoration.
The lidded pots will be fired, glazed and ready for collection from the Pottery one month later. Don’t worry if you are unable to collect, P+P is available at £5 per item.
1.5 hr sessions commence at 9.30am, 11.30am and 2pm and cost £25 per person. Under 12’s must be accompanied by at least one adult. Places can be booked online by visiting www.eastnorpottery.co.uk or calling 01531 633886.
