The UK’s very best stationery retailers have been recognised with the release of the names of the businesses in the running for the Independent Stationery Retailer of the Year, one of the categories in this year’s Stationery Matters Awards. And amongst the finalists is Malvern’s very own Austin & Co.
“Not only have received the nomination ahead of our twelfth birthday on April 21, it has capped off quite an eventful 2 years for Austin & Co”, said owner Sean Austin.
“I’ve come through three national lockdowns, a cost of living crisis, and relocated our shop to the Brays redevelopment. To be just here and still trading is reward enough, but then to recognised by my peers in the industry for what I’ve done is literally the cherry on the cake. It’s a wonderful industry and I am so proud to be part of the stationery family. It just makes me want to do more going forward.”
The winners will be announced at the London Stationery Show on Tuesday 16 May, during National Stationery Week.
This is not the first time that the quirky card and stationery shop as been recognised as one of the best in the biz. In 2014, after opening their doors in 2012, they won the Best Greeting Card Newcomer at the industry RETAS awards before winning again in 2021 for the Best Greeting Card Retailer in Wales and the Midlands. As a retailer that also specialises in dog themed cards, gifts and accessories Austin & Co have been recognised by DogFriendly, who are supported by the Kennel Club, as the UK’s most Dog Friendly High Street shop.
