The Malverns are home to a wide variety of gardens packed full of colour, horticultural interest and unusual features. Many also offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Attracting visitors both from the local area and further afield, a number of hardworking garden owners generously open their gardens for the National Garden Scheme on selected dates during the year. In addition, some gardens open by arrangement. This allows the wider public to enjoy these fabulous spaces whilst supporting the work of some fantastic charities. You’ll find more information about the long-running and perennially popular scheme, as well as the charities it supports, on the National Garden Scheme website.
Coming up are openings at The Picton Garden in Colwall, home to many unusual plants including bamboos and more than one hundred different ferns and acers; The Dell House in Malvern Wells, an informal hillside garden with many magnificent trees; Rothbury in North Malvern, a plant-lovers’ garden with impressive Eucryphia glutinosa to see in July; and Millbrook Lodge in Alfrick, a large, varied garden set in a peaceful location with interest throughout the year and featuring a pond with stream and a bog garden.
There are many more gardens to explore, so visit the National Garden Scheme website for more inspiration.
