Tenbury Swimming Pool is all set for a fun packed open day to showcase its refurbished facilities.
The open day takes place on Friday, 19 August, from 10am to 2pm, at Tenbury Swimming Pool, which is operated by Freedom Leisure.
The event is being run in partnership with Tenbury Community Pool Trustees.
The Trustees raised £200,000 from local fundraising and UK Trust, Malvern Hills District Council also contributed £199,498 of Section 106 funding, the refurbished facilities were completed during lockdown in 2020, after years of planning and fundraising.
The refurbishment included an extension to the gym, a new exercise studio, a complete refurbishment to reception and both the female and male changing rooms, and the addition of a family and accessible changing area.
Open day activities cost £1 and include:
- Xplorer – a fun orienteering challenge around the town, registration open from 10am to 12pm
- Spike Island inflatable pool sessions for children over the age of six, pre-booking is required and a swim test to be completed at the start of the session. Sessions take place at 11.30am – 12.15pm and 12.15pm – 1pm
- Floats and fun 1.30pm – 2.30pm
- Face painting
- Virtual classes in new studio
- Gym access throughout the day
Cllr Tom Wells, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are delighted to see the results of the project and we congratulate everyone involved for all their hard work. This open day is the perfect opportunity to showcase the excellent facilities that Tenbury Swimming Pool has to offer for all ages.”
Tom Mansfield, General Manager at Tenbury Swimming Pool said: “Following the fantastic refurbishment works in 2020 we are really pleased to be able to offer the local community in Tenbury the opportunity to come and visit our updated and refreshed facilities at the centre. This is a great opportunity for our local community to come down to the centre to trial a range of activities, see our new facilities and talk to our team, all for just £1.”
Staff members will be on hand throughout the whole day to show visitors around, answer any questions, and talk through activities, programmes and membership options available.
