Primary schools across the Malvern Hills District are being encouraged to learn about Upton’s history with a visit to the Tourist Information Centre (TIC).

The centre has had two school visits so far from Upton Primary School’s Year Three class and St Matthias Primary School’s Year Five class.

As part of the visits, Susannah Massey (TIC Officer) gave a presentation about the town’s history and the famous ‘Pepperpot’.

Upton Primary School’s focus was on ‘investigating the local area’ where they looked at the human and physical features of Upton, as well as the ways they can promote the area as a local tourist destination.

St Matthias Primary School enjoyed a visit to the TIC as part of their Geography topic. They combined it with a visit to Clive’s Fruit Farm and a walk around the town. They are hoping to produce leaflets to promote the area to be displayed in the Pepperpot tower.

Susannah Massey, Upton TIC Officer, said: “It was lovely to welcome the two schools to the Tourist Information Centre and Pepperpot and the children were beautifully behaved and attentive. We look forward to welcoming the schools back for future visits”.
