FEAST Theatre Festival opens your eyes to new and emerging theatrical performances from across the globe. Curated by Reaction Theatre Makers, FEAST festival enters its 8th year in 2024, with events taking place in venues across Malvern between 10 & 17 November.
The FEAST team seeks out performances that are compelling, meaningful, provocative and topical; they encourage us to engage by introducing new forms, ideas and ways of experiencing art and theatre.
There is always something for everyone – from adults to families and children. FEAST festival is by its nature inclusive, so there will be performances by people from all backgrounds and abilities, from community theatre access groups to serious and stimulating pieces by professional companies and actors. FEAST connects with its community and works in partnerships with other groups, such as Malvern Green
Space, who collaborate on the event ‘Feast of Thought’ to produce a three-course meal for a dinner party of thought and discussion, with much of the food originating from food waste.
There will be workshops for people who’d like to get involved. This year’s offerings include eccentric hat-making with Lexi Strauss, a creative writing day led by Worcester’s Crave Arts and ‘The Spirit of Nature’ Workshop – Araceli Cabrera Caceres exploring puppetry and shadow-work.
For children and families, the Fetch Theatre Company encourages participants to join in making shadow puppets that become part of a story-telling session.
Performances include: Paradise Lost (Lies Unopened Beside Me); Landscape (1989), which, through choreography, live cooking and striking imagery, invites audiences to pay attention to the slower, stranger world of fungi; and The Return (workshop and performance) by Natasha Stanic Mann, which is a one-woman show exploring the hidden consequences of war.
The Comedy Night this year is from Lachlan Werner with Voices of Evil, a surprising, rebellious and ridiculous hour of frights, where demonic voices come from every corner. Watch out, anyone could get puppeteered by evil…
