Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) has launched a new, innovative online system that encourages tourism and hospitality businesses to reduce carbon emissions by adopting greener business practices.
The first of its kind in the United Kingdom, The Malverns Green Tracker is a free system available for local tourism and hospitality businesses from across The Malverns to use.
The online toolkit has been developed in partnership with sustainability experts RHP Ltd, and includes an area to monitor and benchmark energy, water, and waste, as well as a section which provides a step-by-step guide for attractions, hotels, B&B’s, self-catering accommodation, campsites, retail and eateries to adopt greener practices.
Malvern Hills District Council is encouraging local tourism and hospitality businesses to be serious about sustainability; and to be part of our journey to net zero, as well as improving sustainability credentials, enhancing reputation with customers, and also helping businesses to potentially save some money along the way!
Malvern Hills District Council is offering free business support via RHP Ltd to help businesses get set up and using the new online system.
The launch of the Green Tracker is one step towards achieving the council’s vision for The Malverns to become a recognised green tourism destination.
Other Malvern Hills District Council projects to help encourage tourism businesses to adopt greener practices, includes a Sustainable Tourism Grant scheme and the local Green Mark Accreditation Scheme.
