From Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June 2022 The Malverns is honouring The Queens Platinum Jubilee with a cracking calendar of activities. The events commemorate the The Queens reign for the last 70 years – so there’s a lot to celebrate! There will be cream teas a plenty, nostalgic looks back on the coronation, family fun days and abundant opportunities for merriment. Lighting The Worcestershire Beacon – 9:45 Thursday 2 June 2022 FREE
Historically used as a strategic tool of communication Beacon lighting is now often done as a symbol of unity and to mark royal occasions. Along with thousands of others across the country a specially designed gas Beacon will be safely lit on the Malvern Hills at the Worcestershire Beacon in this fantastic ceremony. From atop the Malvern Hills, you can usually see other beacons burning in the distance. Across The Malvern Hills District many beacons will be lit in celebration including in Kempsey, Tenbury, and Hanley Castle. Find a beacon being lit near you by clicking the button below:
Tenbury Wells Celebration – Sunday 5 June FREE
On Sunday 5 June 2022 day of celebration will commence in Tenbury Wells with a parade and church service followed by a community event in The Burgage, which will include music, dance and drama provided by local community groups supported by Ludwig Theatre Arts and Wye Events.

From 30 April – 12 June 2022 there will be an interactive augmented reality trail around Tenbury Wells telling the tale of Sir Barnaby Beacon as he embarks on a mission to find his friend Cherry Chandelier so that Jubilee celebrations can go off without a hitch.
Tenbury Wells Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Window Trail 2 June – 4 June 2022
FREE children’s trail. Follow the majestic crowns around the shops in Tenbury Wells to find the letters to solve the phrase. If you like, wear your best royal outfit to match the occasion. Once you’ve found all the letters and solved the phase, please head to the Tenbury Tourist Information Centre to collect a small prize. Collect trail flyers from The Tourist Information office from 10am-4pm.
Upton upon Severn Jubilee Weekend – Sat 4 & Sun 5 June

Over the Jubilee weekend there is a “Right Royal Scarecrow trail” – pick up a map from The Upton Tourist Information Office or the Baptist Church to find royalty in Upton and the surrounding areas.
Upton’s Platinum Jubilee Trail Thursday 2 – Saturday 4 June 2022
Join this FREE royal trail, open from 10am – 5pm. Can you find the 19 Crowns hidden amongst the shop window displays to find the location of the extra – special Coronation Crown? Great Malvern Celebrations – 5 June 2022 FREE
The afternoon starts off with Malvern Chase Brass Band playing an eclectic mix of well-known tunes, followed by vintage sounds from Candy and the Sound, towards the end of the afternoon there will be instrumental music from Trip for Biscuits. The finale will be soloist Amelia Arnold leader of Amelia K Academy singing Land of Hope and Glory and the National Anthem (during which everyone can join in). Revellers will also be joined by Coolmoves dance group who will showcase some lindy hop moves and get everyone dancing. There will be children’s entertainment and refreshments, handwaving flags and crowns will be on offer.
The Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations take place in Priory Park from 12noon – 4:30pm

The Jubilant Queen’s Beasts with Malvern Theatres and The Cube – 2 June 2022 FREE
Join Malvern Theatres and The Malvern Cube for a specially commissioned afternoon of outdoor theatre. Against the backdrop of two community murals outdoor theatre company The Fabularium will create a “right royal rumpus” with their performances based on The Queen’s Beasts, ten heraldic statues representing the genealogy of Queen Elizabeth II. After their 2 pm performance at the Theatre they will parade down to The Cube for a second performance at 3pm. This promises to be a jubilant start to a jam-packed weekend.

Francis of Malvern Free Family Fun day Thursday 2 June 2022

Little Witley Jubilee Celebrations 2 – 5 June 2022
Little Witley is coming together for 4 days of celebrations. This will include Lighting of the Beacon, historical and floral exhibition in the church, street party, tree planting and live screening of national events. The church exhibition will be both floral and celebrating the 70 years of the Queen’s reign through village events and memories of royal involvement. Including tea, cakes and craft stalls it will be an engaging event for all.
Platinum Jubilee Party for Rushwick – Thursday 2 June 2022
From 1pm – 8pm Rushwick’s residents will come together at the Cricket Club to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style, with music, entertainment, bar drinks, food, and lots of fun activities for kids. The event will include:

Beacon Lighting on Kempsey Common – 2nd June 2022
Highlight of this event will be a performance of the specially composed “Majesty” performed by Jon Holland of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. The beacon lighting is co-ordinated across the whole of the country and takes place at 9.45 p.m.
Platinum Picnic in the Park – 4 June 2022 FREE
Hosted at Plovers Rise Playing Fields in Kempsey this FREE family community event for young and old will include:
- Live entertainers and local musicians; including Rock and Roll Band Jimmy and the Hound Dogs to finish the community day celebration

- Tennis taster sessions

Over Saturday and Sunday, Kempsey’s Parish Hall will be hosting a fascinating photographic exhibition of Old Kempsey as well as offering traditional refreshments and live musical entertainment.
Sunday morning sees Kempsey’s famous Wheelbarrow Race run over a challenging course and concluding at the Talbot Public House.
There’s going to be a pop up Skatepark at Plovers Rise on Sunday afternoon, where Ice Cream and refreshments will be on hand.
St. Mary’s Church will be combining an edited screening of the Queen’s 1953 Coronation with traditional teas and cake.
Sunday evening at the Parish Hall will feature a Barn Dance with a Caller and live music from Black Velvet.

Royal Jubilee Elgar Festival 3-5 June 2022
What better than a rousing tune to get you feeling all patriotic. The Elgar festival will celebrate one of Britain’s most loved composers and Malvern local with a weekend of music, discussion and celebration. Music and monarch will be celebrated with choirs, concerts, cake, cellos and much more including the Royal Platinum Jubilee Gala concert which will open the festival with a bang.
Coronations of Queen Elizabeth II Concert at Malvern Theatres – 22 June 2022
The Armonico Consort and Baroque Players perform an evening of music to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the world’s longest reigning Monarch. The programme includes highlights of the Coronation Service of Queen Elizabeth II. The evening is narrated by former Royal Correspondent Jennie Bond. Programme highlights include:

Platinum Picnic in the Park – Welland Parish Hall, 5 June 2022 FREE
From 2 – 6pm a Platinum Party in The Park is being hosted in the field behind the Parish Hall in Welland. Little Malvern and Welland Parish Council have organised the event which will include live music, walkabout acts, a bouncy castle, barbecue, bar, and plenty of other entertainment. Food and drink stalls will be on offer and entry is FREE.

Historical performers will put on an interactive pay chronicling the life and times of Queen Victoria and archery workshops will put your bow skills to the test. A “Jubilee Celebrations” exhibition will pop up at the Tudor House Museum commemorating historic royal visits to the city of Worcester.

Stanbrook Abbey Jubilee Charity Fun Day – 4 June 2022
The Stanbrook Abbey Hotel are hosting a Charity Fund Day in their spectacular grounds. Between 12 & 4 pm there will be live music and entertainment, delicious food and drink available to purchase and fun-filled children’s activities. There is the opportunity to pre-order an afternoon tea for an even more royal experience. Tickets are £5 per person and under 12’s go free. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to DEC Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal providing food, water, shelter and healthcare to refugees and displaced families.
